    blown head gasket on 150

hi guys, any ideas why my head gasket should fail on my 150?

craft has done about 50 hrs and ran pretty much with a problem - had it serviced recently and then it started struggling to start and when it did was burning oil then it finally dropped power. we checked compression and the back was 75 so we took the head off and the gasket is trashed - any idea what caused his?

    thanks TK

    Welcome to the Hulk!

Yor message title says 140, but your post says 150.
What model Polaris do you have? MSX 150, MSX 140?
Change the title today, to the correct full model name. Just click the Edit button on your original post, then click Go Advanced.

MSX 140 is a 2-stroke engine, MSX 150 is a four stroke engine.

What was done during the recent service?
Were there any problems before the service?

I am NOT saying this is what happened, but those Weber motors have an issue with the oil level. If it is filled to the 'full' mark on the dipstick, it is actually overfilled, and will push oil into the intake tract during engine operation, where it gums up the works.

If it was over-filled, then there may have been oil pushed into the intake, which could produce oil in the exhaust.

Perhaps, maybe, if enough oil was present (say at hot re-start), it partially hydro-locked that cylinder, and the gasket gave way.

Talk to some of the Weber knowledgeable members on here, see what they say.

I am not a Weber mechanic, but having the oil changed just before the problem arose sounds suspicious.

thank you for your help. I think that's the problem so it's back with the mechanic.

I say you need to pull the front cover back off and take a look where the stator/flywheel is....see whats binding..

Did you put the little spring and plastic bumper back in the hole that the bendix rides against?
Should move this to general questions.
