Whats the correct premixing ratio for a 1999 XP Limited???

Hey whats up everyone, alright well I own a 1999 Sea-Doo XP LTD it has the 951 CC engine and my question that hopfully some out there can answer is what is the proper fuel and oil mix ratio. Since I got the ski about a year n a half ago, the ratio that I've been using is 40:1. I have one of those measuring cups that shows you the 20:1, 30:1, mixing ratios. I purschased mine at a local marine store and like I said before, the ratio that I've been using for my ski is 40:1. I runs ok, I've never had a problem with it but it lets off a lot of smoke, especially when I start the engine out of the water. I was told that the correct premix ratio for my ski is 3:1. Where I would have to pour 3 ounces of oil for every one gallon of gas. My ski does not have the factory mixing system for the gas and oil so I have to premix it, and my concern is that I dont want to run the risk where I ruin my engine because of too little oil. So my question again is, what is the right mixing ratio for this ski, will the ski be ok if follow that 3:1 mix ratio. If anyone out there has a similar ski as mine, I'm looking foward for any advice, or suggestions, and hopefully I can get I right answer for my question.

    16oz of oil to a 5 gal can is 40:1 so you're close @ 15oz to a 5 gal can using the 3:1 method

40:1 with good oil (AmsOil Interceptor) is good and easy. Fill up a handfull of empty water bottles with oil (16oz). Add one for every 5 gallons of gas.

IMPORTANT - plug the front most holes in the hull. They let gobbs of water in and were removed from later model XPLs.

hey thanx for the welcome RX951, I appreciate it. So you guyz think that the 40:1 premix ratio that using on my ski is ok? I dunno I think that its a lil bit more oil that what it needs.

as mentioned previously, 40:1 is safe. that is what i run on my 98xpl. if you are using amsoil, i think they recommend 50:1, need to check the bottle though.
