Ride Plate green goo... Hate it...
Okay, so I am one of the lucky ones, and am building an 03 for Reg (canadaxp).. I was also lucky enough to strip an insert.. I got one out the wrong way (though the bottom of the hull) and the other one out the right way (heat and pop it into the hull).
Now, I need to clean it all up so I can order and install the 05 insert kit.. How the HELL do you get the remaining globs of green goo off the inside so I can begin the repair?
The other side (port) has TONS of glue on them, can't even see the inserts there is so much, so I am going to leave those alone.. unless advised otherwise?

I use a heat gun and a pry bar/screwdrivers.Wear a resperator when doing this. The fumes are bad.Get the glue in a plyable state and it will come off.

I used a torch when popping out the insert (FYI.. The goo is flamable lol)..

hull insert glue?
Hello all, got a question about this goopy brown stuff on the hull insert nuts myself. The ski is a 99'xl1200ltd & 00'gp1200r. I've gotten the jet pump and intermediate shaft in pieces w/parts on order for the 99'. The intake grate and ride plate nuts were a bear and i ended up using vice grips on every one of the brass inserts but i did manage to unscrew all of em.
-What is this stuff? Where can I get it? How much do i need for both
my ski's? (plan on tearing into the 00' soon)
-Know of any better aftermarket for the xl parts? I seen lots of stuff
for the gpr but i'm not there yet.
-When i reassemble the jet pump do i use the "gasket maker" the
service manual depicts? Been reading alot on the forums lately
about other types of sealants/silicones.
-Goin down to NAPA this morning to see about replacing that rubber
tube around the jet pump shaft... Anything special I should know
Well that's about it for now.... any help appreciated!!!

I used a screwdriver and rubber mallet. Get underneath it and pull it out with pliers. Not good breathing the fumes. The pop right off. Done a few boats without using heat.

I did the same things but when I used the heat, I heated the wonder bar (sheet rock pry bar) itself and it went through like a hot knife through butter, it popped them off in a matter of minutes.
