    question, reeds cracked?

I have an old tripple 650sl and have had a little trouble, when i was getting it running the carb closest to the front was spitting out a mist, i guess fuel, and the ski will not open up all the way in the water. it is hesitant and has to be choked a little and then gets to 3/4 full speed maybe. could this be a reed problem? last year it got water in the engine and i got it running again but never 100% so here is where i need help, thanks!

Hi parker, WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums.
I'd certainly check and replace the reeds first, time alone warrants their replacement.

With any piston at TDC the other two should measure the same distance.

I ordered some reeds and have looked for a crankshaft index reader but cant find one. Where do you get something like that I have been to pepboys and autozone and they dont have them.
    Thanks

    Thumbs down

You could use a dial indicator with base or some vernier calipers.
