    Swapping Sponsons

On the RXP, has anyone put 05+ sponsons on an 04 hull? I have heard the bolt patterns are different. Before I try this, I was wondering if there are any complications I need to be aware of.

Same bolt pattern, just have to bore out the holes for the larger OEM Brass inserts...

The 04's had a square insert with a self locking 10mm nut....05+ went to the larger BRASS bolt that is threaded in the center, which allows for the torx screws to be used...I'll be doing the same upgrade to my 04 soon...

Franko, if these are the sponsons we took of that 05 back in October, you have the torx nuts...All you need is the OEM brass inserts, washer, and locking nut for the hull....

I am also looking to put 06 sponsons on an 03 gtx sc, so would be interested if 107racing is right or not.

    They will bolt right up.

However, you have to ensure the square part of the through hull bolt bosses are aligned properly at each bolt hole location (turn them slightly with a wrench until they are all straight up). Also, you'll have to acquire ten of the proper size stainless flat washers and nuts. If you use stainless nylocks it gives it a nice finished (and secure) look.

But, the '05+ hardware is much stronger than previous years. I've seen earlier hardware break from a "not so hard" impact.

I've got a picture of '05 sponsons on an '02... I'll post up tonight.

Thanks, but I am swapping them because the 05+ sponsons are much better.

Franko... here are the pics. I removed a nut and washer on the second pic so you can see the fit. The hole is larger on the '05+ sponsons to allow for the thicker hardware.
