Thread: Stator Question

How bad is this? From an SLT 780...three vanes are like this...
I am getting ready to change the bearings in this unit, and was planning on a new stator as well. But then I looked inside the pump on my SLX, and it has one vein that looks like above...is this something I can put off? At least on one...for awhile?

That is not to bad. I look and the used one I have and none are as good as that one.. Do the bearings and seals and call it a day. A new or better one will pop up for a good price just keep looking. The bearings and seals can be bought from any local bearing house just bring the old ones to match up. Off the top of my head they are 6400 bearings?? It is posted in the tech section somewhere.

If you are doing the pump stator bearings and seals, you might want to file the rough edges off where the stator vanes are beat up.
Use a fine toothed round file for the gouged areas, and don't over do it. Just round things off, don't create knife blade edges. And keep the metal filings out of the bearing areas.

I'm glad to hear that...I was starting to think I would have to do both machines right away. I'm going to order the pump rebuild kit from SBT...looks like it comes with all the bearings and seals for 55 beans. Thanks for the info guys! And I'll also try filing the edges...
