Thread: Advance timing?

    Advance timing?

Has anybody put any timing into there 250? Did it work? I have a 15F and was going to pull out the aftermarket timing plate and use it on the 250 is it the same?

I have not tried it, but it is next on my list of things to figure out. Timing advance will work this engine is made to run on 90 octane w/ 7.8 compression. The high elevated egr temps confirms timing is too retarded and should probably be advanced. Fuel milage should also be improved.

I think it has been posted on here the existing timing plates do not work on the 250X. I hope somebody comes out with an advance plate because I am convinced midrange and hole shot would be much improved.

I was thinking of trying to use my 15f timing plate that has 2/4/6 slots in it or just cut up a stock one?

Try the 15f plate and see if it works. I plan on ordering a stock plate so I can take a look and see if machining is all that is required.

I have a lot on my plate right now to get finished before I look into timing. Fuel needs to get figured out before I begin to try and mess with timing.

My best radaired run is 71mph we have an enduro this weekend so i will be trying to get the 15F timing plate in the 250 tommorow or machine the stock one and run some 100 octane fuel so i will let you know how it goes.
