    Just an observation...

Is it me or has anyone noticed the increasing rate of failures among the new skis, wether it be supercharger, thrown rod, or just good ol' detonation?
It's times like these I love my old 2 smoke! I just dont have to get that gut wrenching feeling when my $3000 ski eats sh$t, compared to a nice $12k RXP-X doing the same stock with less than 50 hours on it. I'm not taking shots , just an observation...
I dont remember my 96XP having these kinds of problems when it first came out, but this is apples to oranges i suppose.

It's basiclly the same as it's always been. BRP has always had issues with reliability. Making more HP/cc might be an excuse...but that is another opinion too.

Everyone always said getting away from 2's would offer more reliability, I never agreed. There are always design flaws that show up, that's the purpose of time, and when corrected, 2's are just as relaible as any other engine.

The same way with currently pushing the envelope with 4's. We can all go slow forever with the first generation 155 4Tec...but who wants to?

More moving parts=more things to fail.
There are really only 5 moving parts on a two stroke.

Hmmjm having gone the 4 stroke route with my snowmobile I have to say it must be the design. 2 strokes are by far more suseptable to any change causing a catastrophic failure. 2 strokes are just so finicky, thats not to say there arent some dependable ones out there I really hope there are cause I got 2 951's and it seems like alot of people here think they are timebombs LOL. I just think if you put crap in them then you get crap out of them. 4 strokes built correctly should be more reliable and last longer

There's more needle bearings on one end, of one rod, in a two stroke, moving than the number your mention...

I guess I just got lucky on both my skis then... My 95XP had a top end done 2 years ago due to low compression caused by use, but other than that I havent had to do a thing to it besides add oil and gas. My 96Xp went untouched till last spring when the oil pump came apart and scored the pistons. If that wouldnt have happened I'd still be riding it stock today....

ive never been one to have good luck with anything i purchase so im just kind of used to unreliability...(had a car that constantly had to have something replaced or fixed on it)

    since ownership

ive had to... replace 4 rave valves assemblies on my XP 800 new pistons and sleeves due to a failed rave...

stator assembly, pump and impeller on my XP...

if they give me fits this summer im deff selling.. for a newer model if not for a NEW model... in pretty much anything 4 strokes are better... anyone whos owned 4 wheelers knows this to be true also...
