    Free flow exhaust

Has anybody done an exhaust conversion? I was thinking of putting in a free flow exhaust on my 2001 GPR800. Would you recommend this? Does anybody have pics of a ski with a free flow exhaust system? Will it help?
    Thanks

on a 1200 it slows you down and makes the ski noisier

I was also thinking about putting one on my gp1300r. Would it slow it down on this model as well?

The free flow exhaust should on be used in conjunction with an aftermarket head and milled stock head. The purpose of a free flow exhaust is to reduce detonation. On a stock ski you will lose speed. On a modded ski I am sure you will lose some speed. Depends on your combo though.

Chris is right, while not a must with bumped compression it is nice insurance.

I had the metal FF and jetworks on my non ported GP1200R and it was a 75 mph boat so my speed loss couldn't have been all that much......maybe .5 mph?

If you are into muscle cars, loud cars, or just get a chubby from the raw sound of motors then you will like the sound. It sounds awesome and will really set your ski apart.

Understand going into it that removing the SS makes the ski very loud. I wear earplugs when I do long rides to prevent my ears from ringing for days afterwards. No kidding.

David, you have the old school metal ff right? The blue riva tube is a little quieter.

I am running the riva blue tube. It is perfect. Not too loud. It has more of a rumble.

Reason for speed lose is because of a slight rpm lose. This is caused because the 2-stroke motor runs best with more back pressure.
