Engine bogs when letting off gas?

Been screwing around on the lake recently on the newly aquired SLT 700, and I noticed when Im flying along, and I let off the gas to slow down or stop, the water flowing against the back of the ski really trys to kill the engine, and sometimes does.

    Is this normal?

What's your idle set at while in the water?

Imo the idle is about perfect, thats going by snowmobile knowledge though, since this SLT has no rpm gauge on it.

If I feather the gas while slowing down its fine, so turning the idle up would fix that you think? As it is right now, it moves a bit when just idling, perfect speed for pulling up to a dock, almost a little fast for that even.

I figure the backwash is plugging the exhaust maybe or something? Causing the engine to bog?

The idle should be around 1500 in the water. Your slt has reverse doesn't it? Kick up the idle a bit, and see how it goes. You can always use the reverse handle to put it in neutral ( so to speak) when approaching the dock.

I'd do what we tell all new Polaris owners to do,,,Do a complete fuel system check/upgrade.That way your starting on the best foot to have a summer of fun and not smoking a motor.

In water idle should be 1250-1300 RPM.

    What's your compression at?
