    Installing Hydroturf mats

Does anyone have any tips on installing Hydroturf mats? It looks very easy but the instructions say to sand the area where the mats make contact with the hull to rough it up because the Hydroturf contact cement will not stick to a smooth surface. Do you have to do this? How strong is the Hydroturf contact cement? Is it one of those type that sticks when the 2 surfaces meet and you won't be able to move it or will you be able to move it around a little bit to line it up?

Follow the instructions...........and there is very little movement when you put the mat to the hull, use a grease pencil to mark the outline of the mats, so you can clean it off after the install, use a sponge paint brush to put the glue on the hull, much easier to stay insides the lines................

Was it a pain to remove the stock mats ?
I was thinking about getting the hydroturf mats too and was thinking the removal of the stock mats will be quite a tough job

    Harry,
Did you clean off all the old glue? What about roughing it up with sandpaper?

    Jimmy,

If the glue is a contact adhesive, make sure both surfaces are dry to the touch before sticking it. That will give you the best adhesion. Once it's stuck that's where it stays.

Yep, and if you never want to see them peel up again, use 3M's fastbond 10 product. O yea that's the shizzle.

    Partial hijack

Why go with hydroturf mats when the stock replacements have a sticky back you peel off and lay in place? The price is very reasonable for replacements mats.

What makes hydroturf the sh!!!11 to have?
