    Studs

I have to replace the crank case with a new one, but need to extract the old studs, how do I get them out?
    thanks Steve.

Sorry I have Riva heads, there are long bolts that screw into a nut that screws onto a stud from the crank case.

Still not clear but here we go.

If they are the cylinder to case studs, you will notice the cylinder itself is over a half inch thick. You can grab the studs with a pair of vice grips on the area closes to the case (after you remove the cylinders), that way you dont interfere with the part that needs threads to tighten cyls to the case.

    Understand ?

Sounds like you have a girdle kit for your RIVA heads

    Thanks Guys
the vice grips did all but 2, what happened was one piston seized and Brooke the conn-rod and cut the crank case in 1/2 plus took out the cylinder. the two studs at that end of the crank will not come out so will get new ones.
Is the Girdle kit the way to go? thanks RX951.
