    MSX 150 Oil Change

I had my 2004 MSX serviced by my local Polaris dealer at the end of last season and instead of polaris 4 stroke synthetic they put in Ylube 4M 10W30. My question is if this will harm my engine. i tried to get help polaris and got no reply. Can I run on this until my oil change at the end of the season. The ski only has about 32 hours on it and is not used a whole lot. The dealer seemed fine with their choice of oil but I don't trust them.

I cannot comment on the oil choice, but do make sure they did not overfill the oil reservoir. If you are not familiar with this problem, search for other threads on here regarding the Weber oil dipstick.

If the dipstick shows full when the engine is cold, it will be overfull when operating at temperature, and oil then gets into the engine air intake tract, where it causes problems.

i would not run that oil in that machine! the only subsitute oil that should be used is Mobil 1 15-50w oil. that oil is very thin and it is not synthetic. please look here for oil change information. hope this helps.

as far as oil level goes as mentioned do not go by the stick! run engine for about 30 seconds. unscrew and wipe off stick. place back in tank (do not screw down) and read stick. run the oil level at anywhere just on the stick to the add mark!!! any higher than this will be over filled!!! it still has 3+ quarts at this level and i have benn doing this for 4 seasons with no problems.
so with this knnowledge go change your oil!!!

Thanks for the info I guess I will pick up an oil extractor so i can get that ylube out of there. Is there any reason to replace the new filter since it will have some old oil mixed in there?

no need to replace the filter. I would just get the oil out. getting the machine warm will help you get the most amount of oil out.

P.S. put about 2.5 quarts of oil in and then check the oil level. DO NOT PUT 3.75 quarts in right away or else you WILL overfill the engine oil.
