    Open Loop Cooling Question

Does running open loop cooling make your motor run richer? Is it making the sensors think the motor is running colder and richens up the air/fuel ratio? I am running open loop and my rude exhaust tips are turning black

I've never had a problem with the open loop making me run rich.

    Whats your AFR?

I don't know my AFR, I know I need to get one but I don't have a guage yet. I have been running pretty much the same mods except for going with the green wheel last year and never had the exhaust tips turn black and now that I am running open loop they are so I was just curious

you are riding in some real cold water aren't you?

i can see if th engine is too cold then the ECU will richen things up.

You may want to get a temp gauge on that thing. If it's too cold you may want to put a ball valve on the water line coming from the pump so that you can pinch off the water flow some. This is the way we do it on the GPRXP's

He has a ball valve on the water line coming from the pump, but he is running in cold water like you guessed! As you already know, he knows that he needs an afr guage!
