    Deleting Oil injection....?

I was reading online that guys are eliminating the oil injection and using pre-mix. Is this better to do? And if so... could you supply me with how-to info or a link on how to delete it out?

    I have two 96 XP's.

Premix ensures there is oil in the fuel.

Parts: one-1/2" plastic hose T fitting.

To Do: 1-Remove one oil line from the Rotary Valve cover behind the carbs. Cut the other line long enough to make a loop with the now open fitting and fasten with a zip tie(this caps the two oil fittings).
2-Remove the oil pump from the mag cover. Pull out the plastic drive shaft from the crank. Remove the cable and oil lines and reinstall the oil pump (this caps the mag cover).
3-Disconnect the two larger diam lines from the oil tank. Rout these lines to the top of the engine near the pipe support. Insert the 1/2" T fitting in the lines to form a loop (the lines will need to be cut to length). The third opening in the T is where oil is added to the loop (this provides lubrication to the RV gears). see pic (the T fitting has a yellow cap).

Note: Any oil in the tank/lines will probably end up in the hull so drain as much as you can.

Any con's or things I should worry about when doing this?

What is the mixture I use for gas to fuel ratio?

I great appreciate this. I am new to the 2 stroke world. I am use to my 5 cylinder turbo swedish engines

There are only two downsides. It will smoke more at idle as you are getting the full 40:1 mixture, which is when the oil pump cuts back. And the inconvenience of having to mix oil in the gas with every fillup.

Otherwise, you never have to worry about an oil line coming off or the pump failing, and it trashing a piston.

Collect some 16 oz (.5L) water bottles to fill w/2 stroke oil. Add one to every 5 gal (20L). This will give you 40:1

^ I personally have the straight 6 cylinder for towing power, but the turbo 5's are bullet proof and fun/easy to work on.

I am going to be doing this to my ski's on Sunday and do the premix. I could care less about the smoke as much as it could save my ass if a oil pump fails. I appreciate your help guys

i have a 97 spx, which is basically the same ski as the previous years XP. how often do the oil pumps and related parts fail on these ski's? are they prone to failure?it is a 11 year old ski.albeit it is mint and well cared for.but i have been considering doin the premix thing as well so i dont have to worry about the pump...im used to mixing oil with my moto-x bikes so its not a big deal there...
    Thanks
