Need advice on building an 80 mph ski in Florida...

New to forum, learned alot in the past couple of weeks. Went out and bought a 2005 RXP. Been riding for a long time, and want to make the RXP faster. I know it's going to be hard, but I would like to build an 80 mph ski in Florida. Been comparing prices on Riva Stage 3 kit and Rotax racing parts. Would like to buy the parts in 3 different stages. Have $3500 put away to start with and another $3500 coming soon. Any suggestions on what to buy first? Would like to build speed with each stage. Thanks.

It's funny to me... 80 plus... never seen yet but every body wants it... Who say's it runs 80? Gossip? Is that gonna work like the wedge? That was a good Riva piece of $$it. I bet they leave the kick in the hull too. Broke my pelvis that way... 80 W/O handling is scary... Before anyone recommends anything they should be familiar with the RXP TWIST. Then spend $7,000.00 of your own money before you vouch for something that may, or maynot work. A fool and his money soon shall part! Jawz

I can tell you for a fact that my ski has hit 81.9mph on a gps and keep in mind my ski is set up for acceleration (due to the fact i race it in short course racing). So if it was set up for top end only i am sure it could do more. It was built by Les Cooke from Melbourne, Australia. I beleive a fair few of you guys are familiar with him. Les's website is www.seadoocentre.com if anyone is interested.

Are you saying there are no RXPs doing 80+?

    Dan Okeffe 85.9, 84.8, 85.4 RXP
    Jerry Gaddis 82.2 RXP
    Stan Hightower 80.8 RXP
    Brenden Dunne 80.5 & 79.8 RXP

80+ is obtainable now. I would have guessed you have seen Stan's RXP run.

    I think he's talking about Riva's kit...

I think a realistic number for Riva's kit is in the 78-79 range with no tweaking in normal riding conditions (although I do know their bigger supercharger makes quite a difference and that was without the ECU designed for it...).

Now if used as the base platform for a 80mph ski I think it's probably going to be the way to go...

In a way it is proven though because as several have stated...it's not like Riva's really doing anything original...they've just built a kit out of "in house parts" based on all the parts already available from different vendors...We already know those parts are capable of building a 80mph ski...
