    Noob Oil change question

    Hey Guys,

I am going to attempt to change my oil this weekend. Only 7 hours on ski but I think it has GIO.

I have read the manual and I just want to confirm I read it properly. It says to suck the oil out of the engine via the Dipstick. Is that correct?

I have an oil suction tool but the hose is too big to fit in the dipstick tube so I'll have to use a reducer or two to get to the proper size.

Last question. If I put some of the old oil in a jar, will the gas and oil eventually separate to prove to my brother in-law (and co-owner) there is GIO?

Thanks to everyone for all their help, thus far.

Yes, It goes down the dipstick. The oil extractor I bought had 3 different size tubes and the smallest one fit. Also, read the following:

As far as the gas/oil, I don't think it will seperate but you can try it. I sent mine out to be tested and it came back with "EXCESSIVE GAS IN OIL - STOP USING MACHINE IMMEDIATELY"

I have two questions 1. What type of oil extractor you use i planning to get one but do not know where to buy and which one to get? 2. Where you guys send your oil sample for testing sound like you send it to some lab? Can some one post testing results that we can compare and see if we really have OIG Issue?

Right there is the answer to get kawasaki to take the GIO problem seriously. Get oil analysis done buy a company like Blackstone laboratories. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ <-- Check them out.

Its going change color after 20 hours regardless, thats just the nature of oil, just like a car, but the real signs is the rise in the oil level and the thinning of the oil.........

I picked up my oil extractor locally and it's not the same as in the link below but I attached a link to Overton's which shows what they look like and how much.

I am a little pissed. I bought an oil extractor, see below.

    http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true

I had to put in a reducer to attach a small enough hose to fit in the dip stick.
The piece of crap lets the oil flow back down the hose unless you yank it out of the dipstick. Can you imagine the mess that would make.

Anyway, I am looking for a new extractor. Hope I can find one your Kman.
