Battery for the 250x
My dealer suggested that i change my battery. It worked well the last month and a half of last season... being new to this sport i did not remove the battery during storage. A new Battery is only$130 it's a yuasa battery he sells are there any better? should i even bother?it does seem to hold a charge, but he has put a fear in me..

I always take mine out and put it on a trickle charger all off season. Your battery shouldnt need to be changed yet. Id put it on a good charger and go from there.

Thanks for the reply...
I did notthink so either , but then again i was not sure... perhaps i'll charge it before i use it..can you recomend a good charger?all the local dealers round here have one model. I do have one i use for my Pop up trailer battery and my bass boat battery, But they are further away... I like the idea of not having to add water to it... I like a maint free battery.

Battery Tender, just hook it up and walk away. It will keep the battery charged and has a light to tell you when its fully charged. It should be around $60.

One option is to swap out Yuasa for Odyssey PWC 625. You can use the same tray and rubber strap, although it fits a bit differently.
625 cranks strong with good reserve. My Yuasa died after 1st season. It may have been because it was off tender for 3 months. Still seemed a bit weak to me though.

odessey huh? I think most of the local guys round here carry yuasa...one guy said that it's what everyone round here uses supposed to be the best... this is the same guy who said that they do use any other kind of oil except kawi oil..."if anything goes bad with the engine and i have to send a sample to kawasaki and it's not their oil they wont warrantey it"

Yeah, you see Yuasas in all the retail shops but you see Odysseys on line including GH store at 10% off. I do know Odyssey is military grade whatever that means and it will work in virtually any orientation. Of course, I mount it vertically but its neat to know it could go sideways! It may be 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
