question about water boxes and mufflers on rxpx

in the event you remove the waterbox on a x model could you fab up a pipe to a muffler and still flow water through it with no ill effects. would you have to worry about the muffler filling up with water? would that be a problem at idle possibly? i like the muffler idea, but would prefer it still be cooled with water after seeing other threads with burnt hulls. also when the pipe exits the muffler does it need to go up in a u then down through the hull or could it just come straight out?

If you are in a hurry your best bet would be to buy a J pipe and a gibbson muffler or you could wait for the X model version of the muffler. As I understand it water is flowed through the gibbson muffler so there would be no need to worry about burnt hulls.

I wonder if the Gibson muffler is chambered or straight through?

I don't think you would want to try a chambered muffler with the waterflow we have on a ski. The Gibson is straight thru like a glasspack, but does NOT have 'glass packing ... it is all stainless steel, and has no packing to wear out or mess up. There are very few automotive style mufflers that would work with our wet exhaust ... IMO put a thru hull fitting in and do either Jerry's GH box or the Gibson. Trying to find something else that will work well and not degrade due to the waterflow is a waste of time since we already have two very good choices.
