    Trailer tires balanced ?

I have a wobble in one of my tires. Anyone know if a tire shop can balance a trailer tire ? It is a ST175D13 on a steel wheel so its not a small tire.

I'm sure they can, A buddy of mine is a shop teacher and I saw him balance a small wheel and tire once as a demo to the class

If it has a visible wobble at low speeds, then a balance might not be enough.

Even if they put a whack of weights on the rim, a non-round tire is probably not going to ride all that well.

Do have the shop first check the rim for out-of-round and bent/warped.

Took the tires over to Tires plus. They balanced them just as any other wheel.

I also called over to a trailer shop and they mentioned when you get to the bigger sizes it is nearly required to do so.

In other words a 5.30 X 12 is probably ok without being balanced. Mine ate the ST175D X 13 (Triton Elite).

I will update after driving with the trailer.

I have 12" radials on alum wheels, no probs so far...
but yeah if you guys go to 13+ it wouldn`t hurt to balance...

how does balancing remove the wobble tho? Did the tire belt shift or come apart?

My trailer was untowable without a ski on it @ high speeds. Slapped those wheels on the balancer at work and it rides smooth as silk empty now.

The tread on my tires are wearing unevenly. Including the outside treads, there are three tread between them, for a toal of five treads. Number 2 and 4 are wearing faster than the outside and middle treads. I think I may just replace both tires and be done with it.

    Now, what about bearing buddies?

Yes replace them, and get a set of Bearing Buddies. They keep the water out and the bearings lubed up all the time.
