    Reuse of head gaskets???

Im curious - The head gaskets on my 96 slx seem to be ok. No bends or kinks. Are they ok to reuse or should I be replacing? Seems like the kind of gasket that is very reusable?

Is it the 2 piece head gasket? I wouldn't do it if so...

Done it on my 750 with a single gasket and gasket sealer before.

    Up to you though.

It appears to be a metal gasket type material. There is only one piece. Can I just smear a light cote of sealant on them? I guess if they dont form a seal I could risk getting water in the cylinders though correct? ? ?

I thought most fuji head gaskets were 2 piece. You sure its a single piece?

Xlint has used a copper spray gasket sealer on the gaskets, but didn't recommend it.

I myself would go w/ new ones.

Hey Bob, does the 3 bond remove easily? Solvent needed?

It's made by Threebond. I bought mine from www.Watcon.com .

Haven't been able to find any locally.

650 and 750 are single piece gaskets. The 780 is a 2 piece, that's why I'm not too confident in the re-use of them.

3M copper spray is pretty good, it washes off with gasoline. Suppose to dissipate heat evenly across the entire gasket to prevent hot spots.
