    Waveraider 701 carb tuning

Can anyone tell me what the stock setting is for the high/low speed needles on the carbs? It's a '94 dual carb 701 waveraider.
    The manual was kinda confusing,
    it says
    highspeed #1) 5/8 #2) 1 1/8
    Lowspeed 5/8

Are there two highspeed needles? What do they mean?

I'm right at sea level if that makes a difference.
    Thanks

(#1), and (#2) refers to the carbs them selves.i am 90% sure that #1 is the carb were the throttle cable connects, so that makes #2 the other.

best way to be sure it to check the jetting. they have different jetting spec's, and cross reference this with the manual.

the manual can be down loaded from Yamaha FAQ section if you don't already have it.

    good luck

it means to turn your front carb(front of ski) high speed out 5/8 and your rear carb high speed out 1 1/8 and both carbs low speed out 5/8- they stagger the high speed settings from the factory so the rear cylinder runs richer/cooler at full throttle

does the rear cylinder need to run cooler or can I set them both to 5/8 and get a little more power.

we have an old saying "it runs best right before it blows up" so no dont do it-its actually not running cooler but compensating for running hotter
