    SLX Gas Tank Removal HELP!!!!!

Ok I have a 99 SLX that I just bought. As is the custom at my house I strip everything down that I buy to inspect/Repair/ and clean. I have removed gas tanks from my old 95 sl750, 96 sl900, and 97 sl900. However, it is now 4:40 AM EST and I can not get this tank out. Please don't tell me that polaris decided that the only way to install this tank was through the engine cavity. If that is the case I will just cap off the holes and hose away. Let me know.

Mine doesn't even come close to being pulled out the front...I think the engine cavity is the only way on this one.

I haven't taken one out of an SLX yet, but I took one out of an SL 780...We removed the oil tank, the bolts holding the tank down, and the filler neck. Then we slid the tank as far forward as it would go and removed the pick-up. Once everything was disconnected, we slid it back and lifted the front of the tank up and wrestled it out. The hardest part was reinstalling the hold-down bolts.

Oh yeah...I seem to remember removing the hood as well...still better than pulling the engine.

Oohps, Just saw that yours is a '99...the one I helped with was a '96...disregard.

That is what I have noticed. Now mine is all gouged up. I was really surprised to see how soft the plastic was. Does anyone have one for sale if mine is messed up?
