I believe you are talking about the nose cone for the impeller.
And yes, you need it. Without it you will have cavitation!

I'm assuming you mean the impeller boot. Will the Sea Doo run with out it yes. Should you run with out it NO. It holds the grease in the spline interface between the drive shaft and the impeller as well as keeping contaminants out. If you leave it off you will eventually wear out the splines on the impeller and shaft. You need to adequately grease the splines with marine grade waterproof synthetic grease as well before reinstalling a good boot.

Hmmm.....this is slightly strange. I just got off the phone with Steve(Shibby) because i recieved his loaner stock RXT prop in the mail and realized that i also needed the stock RXT nose cone. I'm scrambling to get my ski back together in time for this weekends AWA DC freedom ride. I'm still waiting on my driveshaft and wear ring and now i've been forced to order a $15 stock RXT nose cone which almost certainly won't be shipped in time. Anyone have one they wanna sell me? If anyone can let Shibby know since i won't be around to check on here often. If i can't get one i guess i might have to fabricate one.
