Thread: help please

    Question help please

    my 99 1100 stx starts but will not shut off. it runs without no lanyard nand with switch in off. does anyone know what is wrong

    start by opening up the on/off switch assembly at the handlebards and inspect it. this happened to my old x2 i had and the reason for it not shutting off was the switch was damaged inside. when the switch/box assembly is not properly clamped on the bars correctly it will do this = if the two halves of the switch assembly are not seated correctly and/or they are damaged it will do this.

    you must take it apart and let us know what u see inside. it is very simple and this is a start. keep me posted. if its not that, we'll move on to the next possible issue.

    there is an on/off switch on ebay for cheap right now. a new one OEM costs $250 i think. they're pretty pricey.
