how much of a dog would a GP701 be?

since I can't seem to give away my gp1200, and i was planning on replacing the polaris with a gp760, i thought, why not drop a 701 in there? i may be able to get one locally.

I figure the motor mounts are there, all I need to do is drop in the motor and cdi, and then repitch the 1200 prop.

All I want is to replace the polaris with a nice, fuel efficient loaner ski. low to mid 50's is fine. really. the gprxp is my new speed demon

    comments?

Why not just leave the 760 motor in it? There are a few different versions of the 701, ranging from 63-80 hp. The 80hp version has 10 less hp than the 760.

It will be a dog and a disgrace to put a 701 in a GP1200. I would rather see you set it on fire.

If speed isn't that much of an issue for you but rather to be just out in the water and have some fun, go ahead. Just remember that you have to replace the subshaft and the coupler also since the 1200 shaft is shorter. You have to get one from an 760 GP. Let us know. If the 700 pushes an XL hull, a GP hull should be no problem.
