Opening the hood with a UMI Steering Setup

How do you guys with UMI steering setups clear the hood when openeing it. My bars, throttle lever and trim lever hit the hood if I mopen the hood. I can rotate the bar away from the hood but then it would be too low for me. Do you guys trim your hood to make it clear the bars and accessories? By the way, I am using a Renthal Watercraft bar, I believe it is a McClaugage bend.

I use the UMI Kawi bars on mine (4" rise) and my hood clears fine when the bars are straight.

    Green,
I guess its coz of my bars. Renthal bars only have a 2" rise. I think.

Anyone else using old school Renthals?

I use the GSX RX bars and just move them back a hair. It is tight but the System makes up for that inconvience.

You know I have mixed views on it. It rids real nice and has some benifits, but I still liked my Riva bar extensions and stock bars. The UMI moves you forward on the ski so you have a more aggressive ridding position and when standing up it feels better as the bars are in a better position.
I don't like the loose feel it has. Kinda feels like it needs a steering damper on it.
For the $$$ of it and if I had to do it again, I might be a little more hesitant. Hope i helped some.

humm, that is a lot, maybe the riva finger throttle kit will work. All thought I have been using the thumb throttles since 94.
