    Snapped my Belt today

SC belt went south. It did not shred, it simply snapped or broke in one place. Had to idle all the way in. Now, I have extended warranty, called my kawi tech and he can't get here for three weeks. He is backed up modding ski's on other Islands. So before you hit me with buy the repair manual, how hard or complicated is it to change out a belt??? By the time I get my manual and parts (new belt and tensioner tool) it would probably be three weeks anyway?? Skip or Harry want to fly to Hawaii??? Just kidding. Now I've to ride the standup and the 900 for three weeks.

PS I took off gaurd and everything looks good besides the black rubber all in one place on the gaurd. What would cause this?

    Hey Mike,
Send me a ticket and I'll come and change it for you.
Rudy is correct. It's pretty easy to change the belt.

129 hours and did all the manual required checks by kawi tech. I have BOV mod, Riva rideplate (which would not affect this issue) and Valve cover blockoffs. Nothing else. oh and LX wedge.

I would say change the belt every 100 hrs, and either bet an extra belt holder, or make one yourself, thats what I am going to do, that way if a belt breaks you just have to loosen the tensioner and slide the new belt on...........

    Thanks Harry,

I was told by kawi tech here that those belts supposed to last a long time. When I told him I snapped my belt he said and I quote " why did I know you would be the first to snap one here" Belt is on order and will wait till he gets here as this is the only Kawi tech I really trust. I ride hard and I ride in open ocean so this boat has been through the perils of the waters we have here, anything from twenty foot waves to just long treks up and down the coast. Will maybe someday try to hit Maui from the Big Island, 70 miles one way in one of the roughest channels in the world. This summer we are expecting calm waters as we are in El NINA type pattern so no freak surf during summer and calm winds. But I need my belt changed NOW!!!!!
