    GP1200R stock rideplate

Is the stock rideplate faster than a Riva in light to medium chop? My ski seemed faster with the stock rideplate. Engine is stock but have the handling mods listed below. Thanks!

I've read a few posts about the stock plate working better in rough water. I recently removed my Riva plate to get it modded and installed the stock plate. I noticed that the Riva plate had better straight line stability in calm water and also handles much better in turns. If you want some info on rough water setups, check out this thread.

Light to medium chop I'll take a Riva or R&D over the stock anyday.

Stock plates RULE in rough water. Handle better, turn better, pretty much anything better, but be prepared for a rough, wet, and quick-turning ride.

I had always wondered about the new style (1300R) RIVA plate... it has the little tiny skegs on the center ride surface which differs from the stock plate, but it has the same style of skeg features on the side riding surfaces, almost identical to that of the stock plate.

Does the 1300R Riva plate perform better than the old 1200R Riva/R&D plate?

I agree, for ROUGH WATER the stock plate with a 3 degree nozzle is the way to go. Small to medium chop the aftermarket plates will be faster.
