Teens run into dock, 2 injured

TAMPA — Two teenagers were seriously injured Saturday when their personal watercraft hit a dock on Egypt Lake at 15 to 20 mph, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported.
The boys, ages 13 and 14, were on the small water vessel when it hit the dock at about 1:30 p.m. They were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with serious injuries, commission spokesman Gary Morse said.
The lake is just north of Sligh Avenue and west of N Armenia Avenue.
Their names were not released Saturday evening, and Morse said he's not sure which boy was driving the vessel or where their parents were at the time.
"With the increased horsepower of vessels nowadays, parents should be very wary of putting young children, or even adolescent children, behind the wheel of a high-power craft," Morse said.
The commission is investigating the accident, he said.
