    Cool The $350 Battery

    Date: 5/26/2008 (Memorial Day )
    Location: Marysville Ohio
    Time 12:45 PM
Off to the garage to install my new carb racks from Randy

Time 3:00 PM (2 hours and 15 minutes later )
After many trials and tribulations I finally installed the carbs. BTW after 2 hours of fusing with what could be the most effective way to install a simple rack, I can now remove and install them in 5 minutes.

    Time 3:15 PM
After cranking and cranking I start to get worried....

    Time 4:45 PM
Check Greenhulk tech section....check, the stator resistiance....check, fuel....check, crank speed....check, spark.... Uh Oh NO SPARK

    Time 5:00 PM
    Off to BBQ

    Time 11:55 PM
Back to garage to redue the previous tests incase I messed up.

    Date: 5/27/2008

    Time 12:15 AM
Crap I did them all right.... Now I know I am screwed

    Time 12:30 AM
Swap CDI from good PWC...... Nope nada

    Time 1:30 AM
Snack, drink, sulk, and price new stator kits......

    Time 2:25 AM
    Surf Green Hulk.......Again

    Time 3:00 AM
Stumble across a foot note from the tech section.

"Do you have a good battery? Must be fully charged and be at least 10.6 vdc while cranking your unit (measured at battery). A bad battery will drive even the best techs nuts. Charge and load check them when you have a no spark condition. Make sure they have fluid in them or they will die like us. . Usually you will see a spark when you let off the start button if the battery is weak"

    Time 3:05 AM
    Swap Batteries and start PWC....

Lesson to self...... Read the foot notes next time dummy......

I hope you enjoyed the story. BTW I was tying to be funny by making the post like an episode of 24. Cut me some slack its 3:30 AM and I have to be to the office in 5 hours.

I hope this helps some of you guys. Keep your battery fresh and your eyes open.

I was making a joke that an untended battery almost caused me to purchase a CDI/Stator Kit for $350.

    UPDATE

Charged the battery and now she fires up like a dream. It seems almost instantaneous. BTW I now remember she was turning over at 190 to 250 RPMS with a low batt and 1000+ with the charged one. Can't believe I missed that.
