Whats wrong with using this oil?

Just out of curiousity, i was in WalMart and saw Penzoil had 2 stroke semi-synthetic oil. I read the back and it said it is sutable for all pre-mix and oil injection 2 stroke engines.

Why pay tripple the price for SEADOO oil or Amsoil?

My ski's are full of seadoo oil, but i am just curious as to what is so special. Its like the idiots who want full synthetic Castrol instead of Mobil1 full synthetic in their cars at my work. Its the same crap!!

If you have rave valves in your ski you need to make sure you use a synthetic oil that is API TC. Do not run an oil that is just a TCW-3.

Thats like paying a dollar more for Mobil 1 synthetic with Quaker State or Pennzoil synthetic is the same exact crap for a vehicle as long as the viscosity is the same.

My thinking is the opposite. I buy the premium stuff (Spectro, just becase their 2-stroke motorcycle oil was so good back in the day).

Even premium oil is cheap compared to a motor. There's probably not a lot of difference, but I believe there is a difference, specifically in the ash content. There is also the question of quality assurance/consistancy. I think there is less chance of getting a "bad batch" from Spectro. Their oil is almost a micro-brew.

I'll never have to wonder if my motor damage might have been prevented by better grade oil.
