Do you mean a laptop computer, or a spare Ficht EMM?

I have been wanting to BUY the cable + software, but have not found many sources.

Is the cable something that can be replicated?

    Now, about the software...
PODIAG can connect using the same cable, and can 'see' the EMM data, but not program anything, while the Digital Wrench software can also change settings in the EMM - have I got that right?

How is the software restricted from duplication?

Laptop with wrench loaded and com cable for ficht Injected system .Duplication would need codes which is issue .Allows for testing of all functions .I havent used it enough to see if you can change values .CD or Jay could help there I would think .Wriggle test feature is good and live signal testing is a winner .Put it this way it is a dealer unit .

Why ship an entire laptop around?

Can the Digital Wrench software be installed on a U3 USB memory stick, which would be a lot easier to ship around?

BTW, is there a way could I get the older PODIAG software and a cable?

How do the Digital Wrench components fit together?

Trying to get my head around exactly what the Digital Wrench software needs to actually connect to the laptop and to the Ficht PWC.

"The 01-10005 SmartLink Module is used to communicate with the engine management system computer on vehicles starting with model year 2005.

This part includes the SmartLink Module only.
The 01-10004 Interface Cable and 01-10006 SmartLink Serial Cable are also required to connect to a vehicle using Digital Wrench Software..."

What does the SmartLink Module actually do, and where does it connect?
Between the laptop and the EMM?
Do I even need it for PWC models from 2004 and earlier?

Is the SmartLink used in conjunction with the cable that connects to the diagnostic connector on the PWC harness?
Would that be the 01-10004 Interface Cable?

    Related question;
Is there a fee to upgrade from version 2.0x to version 3.x of the Digital Wrench software?
