How I unlock / lock my house

I hate keys, always have. I thought it would be cool to use the transponder in a cars' key to unlock the deadbolt on a house. So I cobbled together some off the shelf stuff and made it happen. RFID reader sends transponder data to a STAMP (BS2) microcontroller that signals a powered deadbolt. It only works with the keys I have it set to accept. Been working for the last 6 months no problem. The reader sits in the window, I have not been able to get an external antenna to work with the reader yet, once I do everything will be on the door.

Use the key. Deadbolt is battery powered. STAMP / RFID is 9VDC but runs off a wall wart for now. Never hoked it up tp a bettery to see how long it would last. The STAMP is not too energy efficient, a PIC is much better but have not bothered with one yet.
Funny thing is, came home a few months ago and it did not work. I was like WTF? Used the damn key and when I got inside I heard the UPS beeping, power was out.

The reader reads low frequency (125khz) RFID tags with a built in antenna, albiet at a short distance. The Honda Imobilizer keys I have use the low freq tags. It takes the tag number and sends it to the STAMP via a RS-232 conection. The stamp parses the number and compares it to a database of accepted numbers. If it's a good number it sends a signal to the lock or the unlock relay in the deadbolt.
