    Hello all, '96 Polaris SLX780 here...first post!

Hello everyone, I just found these forums, and wanted to let everyone know a little bit about me...and my ski, which has an interesting story!

My name is Chad Roe, I live in Gadsden, Alabama, and I own/ride a factory-stock 1996 Polaris SLX780. I bought it new in 1996, but due to some financial issues, sold it to a friend in 1998. I was able to see it fairly often, and even got a chance to ride it a few times, but it just never felt the same. After the next few years, he rarely ever rode it again, just kept it covered up, and cranked it every now & then.

Well, it's been a long 10 years, but she finally belongs to me again! After a few years of me constantly asking my friend to sell it back to me, he finally gave in last night (5/27/2008...I got it for just $1,200! I think I got a smokin' good deal!

The ski is still in excellent condition, with a grand total of 78 hours on it! My friend has to wear a metal brace on his right foot/ankle, so there is some damage to the right-side checker-board decal & gel-coat, and a tiny bit of damage to the decal above the rub-rail, but she looks brand-new other than that...and she runs like brand-new, too!

I made a few calls today, to locate the new decals I need, and finally found an old dealer that has some. I am going down there this weekend to see what all they have, and to buy every '96 SLX780 decal in the building! That way I'll have extras if something ever happens, or if I buy another '96 that needs decals...I'll be willing to sell them if any of you ever need them. I am also going to see what other parts they have, both specific to the '96 SLX, and common between models. It's already fairly hard to find parts, and it's just gonna get harder, I suppose.

Well, I guess I have rattled on long enough to bore you to sleep, so I'll finish up. I really hope to make some new friends here, as well as get and give some great tips, information, help, & advice! See ya soon!

Oh, here are some pics of how she looked as soon as I got her home last night!

    Welcome to the Hulk!

There are a number of things you should check on, or upgrade, if they have not been done yet.

    Do a search for Fuji engine updates. The list includes;
Replace all fuel lines, including any inside the tank
    Install triple outlet fuel pump
    Clean/rebuild carbs
Check piston wash pattern for correct air/fuel ratio

And some other items I have forgotten...

Cut the back section of the sponson off to help it get up on plane faster and get some more speed. Right behind the last rib you want to cut it off. I know there are some other posts on here about it. Welcome to the forum. Great deal on the ski also.

    Nice Ski !!!

My 95 Sl750 Looks like that, check that tripple outlet fuel pump, it is cheap to fix and it is just cheap insurance.

    Good luck

    No lines inside tank.

Factory triple out fuel pump already stock.

Good idea to clean the carbs and replace the fuel lines though.
