    Question on flushing intercooler /exhaust

I was is the FL keys and by mistake went into very shallow water maybe 1ft and sucked something (sand) because now I am getting high temp .
It was running beautifully for 3 hours prior to this.

Can I disconnet the inlet and oulet of the intercooler and run water through them? Where is the pick up for the inlet?

Also took the ski out and while flushing the ski, I noticed that the interclooler inlet/outlet fitting were extremely hot? i was reving to 3000 to check the H temp, and came on. Is this normal?

Should I remove the J pipe and check?

Also the exhaust manifold started to smoke a little when I rev it while flushing it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Have you checked the pump and intake area?

yes I did, nothing visible. Can I run water in through the in/out hoses of the intercooler without problems? what do I need to check in the j pipe.? ANything else I should do? The fittings of the intercooler were extremly hot for it to be touched while reving to 3000 rpm out of the water with a garden hose. normal?
    thanks

If you rev it out of the water you will smoke the wear ring.

really???? aren't you supposed to rev it up to 4000 rpms to change the oil?? I always start it up after pulling it out of the water to blow the residual water out of the water box....always have on all my doo's but maybe this one is different???

can I connect a garden hose directly to the hose that is connected to the out of the IC that goes to flush the system through the exhaust manifold or water may get into the engine?
    Thanks
