Crankshaft locking tool???
Guys is there anything I can use to lock the crankshaft in place instead of the actual crankshaft locking tool? I have a motor out and on the bench for a timming chain replacement. Any thoughts or help would be awesome.

I used a 6" long 1/4" extension. Also used an 8mm allen key.

So it doesn't need to screw in? It just needs to sit in place?

I got the tip from reading other posts. It just slides into a blind hole in the crank or balance shaft. I removed the PTO like that. . . but I am FAR from an authority on the 4 tec.

craftsman 1/4'' ext works perfect, it just sits in the hole in the crank, no threads.....
