    Riva or R&D intake grate.....

Hi all, any difference or preference??? I have an 06 I bought new and still only have 25 hrs on it. I'm going to do few simple modifications to see if I can get to 70 and create a better hole shot.

I'm sure this has been asked 100's of times so I apologize in advance as I'm not trying to irritate anyone.

    thanks....

seriously, if you are going to mod over the stock speeds than you should get the stainless 800 grate in our online store...
also recommended is the pump tunnel reinforcement...
do a search and you will read all the hull and speed mods to get you to your desired mod level...
    check out the FAQ`s also...

Welcome to the forum. From my personal testing,i bought 2-1200 R&D grates. They were 2.1mph slower than my R&D 800 grate. My old Riva 1200 grate was only .8tenths slower. The casting on the new R&D1200 grates are bad! IMO,i would try finding a used Riva 1200 grate, they were alot better than the new R&D 1200 junk. Im not saying 'ALL' new R&D 1200 grates are bad,i could have got a couple from a bad batch, but i doubt that.

Let me give you a hand Woodster - all R&D grates are junk.

Would you say that the 1200s fit better than the R/D?

I dont know if its on all of them, but my grate is thicker on the left that the right and hangs below the shoe. Im guessing that that will scrub speed?
You can see the gap here (had to use flash...)

Not as much on the other side

They are all like that. I think it was molded that way, and they havent changed it.

Hopefully I wont loose much speed

BTW - Is this also an issue with the Riva or is the casting better?
