    Stereo Upgrade

Well, I spent the last month and a-half with my boat completely torn apart in an attempt to re-wire it with a new stereo. I decided the stock stereo Clarion m455 with 2 Clarion 6.5" speakers was not what I was looking for in a sound system. I upgraded my stereo to a Clarion m475 and with iPod adapter along with a RAM mount. I wanted to have a remote that displays what is being played along with the time. So I moved the existing remote to the swim platform and installed a Clarion CMRC1-BSS in the dash. I also installed an MB Quart 6x65w amplifier w/ Kicker fuse block to run my 2 10" MB Quart Subs and 4 6.5" MB Quart mid range 2-way speakers. The system really pounds now but sucks the juice from the battery. To overcome this I had to install a second battery along with a battery isolator. Lastly I wanted to install a power inverter so I went with the Prowatt 1750 with remote. Now I can fill up tubes anytime to pull the kids. I'm very happy with the perfromance of the upgrades. Any questions let me know and thanks for looking.......

That all looks great! Nice and professional-like. I especially like the power control center you've got near the battery switch. If my boat was a little bit bigger I would look into a system much like you've got there. I think the Utopia's size is just right.

How much did the entire system end up costing you? How much time did you spend?

Thanks for all of the positive comments, I appreciate it. As far as the cost, here's the breakdown. Just don't tell my wife about this thread.....lol :

    Clarion m475 (head unit) - $130
    Clarion EA1251 (iPod adapter) - $60
    Clarion CMRC1-BSS (remote) - $115
    MB Quart NAA 665 (amp.) - $310
    MB Quart NKD 115 (6.5" spks. 2 pair) - $230
    MB Quart NWD 254 (10" subs 2 units) - $310
    Kicker Fuse Holder - $35
    Prowatt 1750 (power inverter - used) - $100
    Optima D31M Battery - $200
Blue Sea Systems - Add A Battery System along with other Blue Sea Systems accessories - $160
    Misc. Wiring/Cables - $200
    ProMariner Battery Monitor - $70
Misc. parts - $100 (at least)
    ------------------------------------
    Total: Priceless......

I literally spent about 1 and 1/2 months working on this project. Whenever I had free time I was working on it. I had the whole boat ripped apart including in each side of the dash. I definately learned some things as I went through the project.......

The spks., iPod adapter, and isolator off Ebay.......the head unit off Amazon.com......the amp, remotes, Alpine fuse block, and all wiring (wanted Kicker tinned) off Sonicelectronix.com......the battery off iBoats.com.....all Blue Sea Systems components from Parker Kennedy Yacht Services........

I'm kinda cheap in some respects so I purchased all the items from different places to save money.
