You could borrow, rent or buy a tent or RV so there's no excuse
You can even rent a PWC.
Alternatives are local hotels
AWA and the NorCal JetSki Crew is committed to having a safe event.
There are some requirements, suggestions and plain old common sense things.
Requirements - If you're not happy with any of the requirements then please do not plan on attending:
You are required to be an AWA member for the main event on Saturday 28th June. Please bring your membership card with you.
If you are not already a member then you can buy an associate membership for the year for $10 on the day of the event. This then covers the AWA and yourself for insurance liability. AWA is there for us so joining with a full membership shows your support and you get a cool mag and cool events to go to.
You will be required to sign a waiver .
Your PWC is required to be registered with current stickers and CF (or other state) numbers. It must have all OEM safety equipment as fitted when it was manufactured including but not limited to a safety lanyard and a fire extinguisher.
During any of the on water events Eye Protection must be worn. Sunglasses are OK.
Alcohol is NOT allowed during any of the on water events. BUI will be reported to local authorities.
* It is the middle of summer, bring good waterproof sunscreen.
* Have plenty of water on board to hydrate (delta water is not that drinkable).
* Let relatives / friends know where you are going to be over the weekend and when to expect you back.
* Make sure your equipment works. Battery is charged, have lanyard etc.
Common Sense Stuff:
* If you need any medication or are allergic to anything carry your medication with you and let the organizers know.
* Cell phones may not work everywhere we go.
* If you have a marine band, FRS, GPRS radio or GPS they may come in useful. Not required but nice to have if you get lost.
Cell phones don't always work and dialing 911 will get you the CHP which is not that useful on the water.
Important Phone Numbers
Rio Vista Coast Guard
Carquinez Coast Guard
Contra Costa County Sheriff
San Joaquin County Sheriff
Sacramento County Sheriff
Solano County Sheriff
Yolo County Sheriff
I'm taking pre-orders for T-Shirts.
They are $10 each if you are a NCJSC member or $15 to the general public.
You can have a sitdown or standup logo and the text says
'NorCal JetSki Crew'
'Freedom Ride 2008'
Let me know the size(s): using the contact form http://westcoastfreedomride.org/contact
and whether you want the standup or sitdown logo.
We don't have one, but w know a great club that does!
Q: Is everyhting above board and legal?
A: We have the appropriate Coast Guard permits and have AWA insurance for the actual organized ride to Stockton on the Saturday.
We are subject to these laws
All the other events are informal NCJC or 3rd party events.
You need to make sure you have all your documentation with you for your equipment.
You also need to make sure your equipment is functional and carries all the required safety equipment.
3rd party liability insurance although not required for your PWC is cheap and will save you a lot of heartache should you accidentally run into a million dollar boat and sink it.
