How many hrs did you get from your gp1200r?

I have a 2000, and I love it, but ive always heard from the grape vine that these motors only get about 150-200 hrs with them being taken care of. HOw much of this is true???? how many hrs have you guys gotten stock wise??

Mine lasted 280 with very hard use. Only reason it went down was due to a cold seizure and not warmed up enough on a cold day. Probably could have gone another 100 hours.

I've got 219 hours on my 2001 GPR 1200.No problems except # 3 cyl. had a slight seizure due to oil line that came off.Rewelded and re-nicked and all is still good no problems.

So your pv broke and fell into the piston... the pin was still in place holding the other half?

I think i was very very lucky,i had bendix problem so pulled motor, stripped and cleaned starter and bendix, got it to crank over on the bench then noticed scores on the pistons.we ended up pulling the motor apart to do a full inspection and found two scored pistons, when we looked down the barrels,we saw that the power valves were sitting right on the edge of the bores.when i took the covers off, there was so much build up inside which i think helped stop the power valves from sliding all the way down and causing some serious damage!!on the one valve, the other half was still attached by the pin and the other valve was completely broken off!its a 02 gp1200r btw.
