pressure release when I pull the dipstick out
I was running my 04 RXP about 50 mph for 10 minutes and it slowed down and the check engine warning came on and the red light stayed flashing. It kept running, but wouldn't take much gas. When I pulled the dipstick to check the oil, it let out a whoosh sound, like there was built up pressure in the crankcase. Oil level was fine. help.

Might be a stuck TOPS valve. i don't think the 04s had a PCV like the 06s did but thats a similar problem. Could be the oil pressure regulator as well but thats a long shot unless you've seen water ingestion recently or a washer failure. Maybe a leakdown test wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Have you had any oil in the hull?

I just had a RR impeller put in, along with metal washers. They also changed oil and filter. I noticed the oil level was too high on the stick, and sucked about a quart out of it. It probably ran 2 hours with the high oil level, now it's at the right level and ran great for about 2 hours, until the incident tonight. It wasn't running as fast as I had hoped with the new impeller, I don't think I gained anything. 8050 rpm and 70.5 mph

Also make sure that your vent hose is free.

Is the TOPS valve easy to replace? I think the manual says something about removing the front oil screen or ?? Maybe not..
