    1992 SL650 ??????'s

Having some issues with my sl650.I did a search on it and I know I need to update the fue system (new lines, clean, rebuild). But I am not sure if thats my problem or not. I had it out a couple weeks ago putting chemicals in the lake just puting around but I did open it up acouple times and it seemed fine. Then last week I got it out to put Aquashade in and it would run a low speed but wouldn't rev and finally died unable to restart. I thought maybe I just fould the plugs from running it slow the last time. So i put a new set of plugs in it and it fired right up. But when I put it in the water it would barely run and died again. #2 cyl dosen't seem to be getting any spark. I was thinking bad CDI but I don't know. I found one on ebay for a '93. Are they the same by the way? But before I started trial and error I thought i'd ask you guys. Thanks and sorry for the novel like post.

WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!!

Have you tried to cut about 1/4 inch of the spark plug secondary wire and screw on new caps?
I'd at least test the caps and make sure they have roughly 5K ohms resistance.

Get a spark plug tester, they are really cheap and you can verify spark on each cylinder.

It's the spark plug wire with the orange connector on the end which attaches to the spark plug.

So you don't think the CDI is an issue?

Could be a coil, wire, boot, spark plug, crank index etc.
Where you need to start is to verify if you have spark leading into the plugs and wether or not it's consistant, easy to do with an in-line spark plug tester.
    Verify compression is good.
