Is '99 Really The "Fastest" Year For 951cc XP's??

I have a chart that shows top speeds, gph, power/weight ratio, ect... all the important stuff for SeaDoo's from 93-05.

I am looking for another 'ski and found an '01 XP 951cc locally. The chart I have says the '01 does 60mph stock. For the '99 it shows it does 64mph stock.

The only difference the chart shows is that that '99 weighs 551lbs and the '01 weighs 562lbs.

Would that extra 11lbs really equate to a 4mph loss??

I have a GSX-L now, and don't wanna buy something that's gonna be slower, because that would really make no sense.

I REALLY want an RXP, but there are only "T's" for sale local to me.

I doubt the xpl is much faster then a gsxl if at all , the ski looks heavy compared to a gsxl and they both have the same engine so they should be about the same topspeed. Personaly I think the Gsxl is the nicest ski seadoo has ever made before the rxp and rxx.

If anything the 98 was the fastest. Less crap on the ski. But they are all 61-62 mph skis. It is the luck of the draw. My 2000 XP would GPS 63.6 box-stock. It had a handling issue though.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my '99 GSXL, just want to get another FASTER 'ski, or a Jet Boat, just gotta wait and find what I'm looking for locally.

I've whooped every 'ski I've ever went up against out here where I ride. I go after boats now

Let's hear it for the GSX-L

Most underrated 951 based SD, IMO. I've had 2 of them since 1999. Had others, too, but they remain my favorites. Best thing I ever did for one of them is to drop a DI engine in it. Gets about twice the fuel economy over my RXP-X but not as fast, obviously.
