    coupler out again!! WHY?!!!!!!!

just replaced the coupler on 96 slt780. put it in the water took it out and fried it in 10 minutes! can any one tell me what the f*ck is going on. is the bearing out causing it to over heat and melt the coupler? or is the jet housing out of alinement.

    Which coupler? PTO/driveshaft coupler?

If the coupler is/was definately good, then doublecheck driveshaft splines, driveline alignment, broken motor mounts....

You need an alignment tool. Beerdart sells/rents them.

Also look into the jet pump binding up, or impeller rubbing.

could friction cause this too by being up against it?

i'm not that familar with the three seaters but i know it shouldn't be that close .
i looked at my 785 and it should be slid into the hose all the way up to the grease fitting .

Your coupler needs to be installed farther into the rubber hose.
