    80 mph gpr with 66e

so we were up at the lake and my friend were messing with my gpr and where pretty impressed. well were shooting up the lake and a xp and rxp-x come flying up on us and the xp was trying to mess with me and im like nah im not playing because im gona looks stupid when his friend blows my cowling's off.

any way when we got back we were talking about a thread that someone made about making an 80mph gpr with a 66e and they said it probably impossible.

what would it take to get to 80 mph cause i sorta like to try it .

I guess you could strap rocket engines to the back of the ski...

you know what would be neat thought take the engine they use in the y2k and out it in there.

thought like i said im thinking 66e. with is identical to the 66v just a cylinder down. so im figuring most mosts could be used on it. i dont know if ill go trough with it just thinking about doing it my limiting factor is MONEY.

    Hey there Stingray..

IT Would take a "LOT" of several things...

    1/. MONEY..
    2/. Talent..
    3/. Parts..
    4/. did i mention money..???

Unfortunately the 800 hull isn't quite as well suited as the 1200 for an RXP motor transplant either..

There's the usual mods can be done to the 800 motor..

Personally i'd just ride it and enjoy the season...

yah i enjoye it just talking about it at the lake and i said well if you modded some triple pipes to just run two and go big bore kit and carb work im sure its would get you up there.

lets just say hypothetically speaking how would you do it what mods would you do? the only rule is u have to use the 66e cases

i would imagine there would be some gains to be had just like any other hull......friction and drag would be where i started....get the hull trued as well as possible and setup the intake/shoe/rideplate....then look to drop as much weight and aerodynamic drag as possible....that should be a good start.....with the motor, i would think some significant porting and compression would help....then you may be able to pitch up on the impeller to gain some...from there the science gets hazy...lol

    OK then...

    Hypothetically that is...

    Under the seat:.

    True & Weld the crank..

Overbore the cylinders to 87mm or bigger..(87mm puts you to 927cc, 90 is 992cc, etc)

Add in your choice of porting (Lowell, TJ, etc)

Skimmed or aftermarket head pushing about 150psi..(or lots more if you can handle race gas prices)

A set (pair) of race pipes..

A pair of VF reeds, either 2's or 3's

Aftermarket CDi.. (needed to make the pipes work correctly)

Modded (re-jetted) stock carbs or aftermarket (blackjacks etc)

    Hull mods:.

    Jims or Carls latest rideplate..

Shim the stock metal tabs or cut aftermarket tabs..

Sealed pumpshoe, correctly set in the hull..

    800 or 1200 intake grate..

Upgrade to 05 pump and Dynafly prop..

Even with all the above done to an 800 motor, 80mph is highly unlikely..

    Probably a mid 70's ski..

The above mods will cost a minimum of 3k++, that's using mostly second hand parts..

    In conclusion:..

Sell the 800 for decent price, add in the 3k you've just saved by NOT modding your 800..

Then buy yourself one of the already modded ski's off the forum..(flyboys was an excellent example..!!)

Then Wait around at your riding spot for these two jerk-off's to come along again...

    WELL:. You Know the rest...!!!

I threw $2500 at my xlt 800 and went from 50 to 60 last year, so 70 is attainable with the right parts on you pg800r, but IMHO 80 would be a serious stretch.
I did carb mods, 3 degree keyway, VF3s, lowell bore and port plus 155 lb compression, ride plate prop etc. my estimate is that my power went from 120hp to 145hp approx.
the good news with the 2 cylinder 66e motor is that there is more of a "pipe effect" than you would get with single pipe 1200 motor.
