Premix question, smoking!
Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 GP800. Its smoking tons at idle from the rear. The guy before me told me he premixed it 32:1 with quicksilver oil. Im switching to synthetic Royal Purple (only stuff i found locally) and going with new NGK plugs. What should I premix the ski too? Should I go to 50:1 to reduce the smoke? What would you say is the safe limit.

When you run a 2 stroke on premix it will smoke a little more at idle. The reason is when running oil injection the oil pump slows as the rpms drop, allowing less oil in at idle = less smoke. Running premix, you are always running the same ratio throughout all the rpm range.(well not really cause gas and oil doesn't mix 100% in the fuel tank) I run 32:1. If i wasnt running the triples and high rpm on my GP i would run 34:1. I just got use to it. Once the engine warms up and you make a couple runs it should put out less smoke.
