It's ashame they are plagued by so many problems. One of the originals is at a helicopter museum not far from where I live. I think they will mature like the B-1 did.

Wait til you see some of the VSTOL F-35's in action.

    Great video clip!

Is this a concept plane...or are they in theatre? Strictly Marine, since they seem to be optimal for carrier based?

B1 is one of the most under estimated planes in the fleet. I worked on all of them.

B1s are truely awesome to see fly. I'm out here where the group stationd at Dyess get to play war games occasionally, nothing like seeing a B1 booking it across the landscape at 500 ft

I saw B-1 participate in a night show at Langley a few years back. WOW

Low level flyby burner flames were crazy Not to mention, it set off every car alarm in the place over and over again. Hair stands up on my neck just thinking about it.

Carter nixed the A model, now it is a USAF workhorse like the BUFF.

When i was stationed at Tustin marine air station back around 96, I got to ride in one of these. Very smooth ride, compared to the 53's or the 46's. Those older helicopters would vibrate you to death on a long ride. A good portion of the flight officers that I served with went to these after they retired the ch53e which I worked on.
One thing you wont read about is how badly it operated during the first few years of development. They spent millions making this thing work.

They also don't tell you how many of them crashed during those first few years. I did a lot of clean up for these when I was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC. They are pretty awesome though.

To answer someone's earlier question, yes they are in theater right now. I think they are exclusive to the Marine Corps.
