What do you mean when you say handled better? More predictable, turned harder, etc.

I can't image any grate other than the stocker would hook-up better and thus go around bouys any faster.

Handling means 2 different things if one guy is in smooth water and the other guy is in 3 foot chop.

similarities in design of the grate

It seems to me that the R&D grate look very similar in design with the stock one. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Not even close in design. The wing is smaller, it is basically flat as opposed to angled and it closes off a large portion of the tunnel.

[quote=iflyems;683603]According to the engine/air density computer, the engine was producing about 99% of rate horsepower.

    Hey iflyem,
    real nice review.
    Well done.
    I have an Xt-X w/ r&d grate & riva s1 (minus wedge-backordered) going 71+ gps in high heat, humidity, and 89-90degree water.
Where do I find this "engine/air density computer"...& how does it work. Is this a small handheld unit like a gps that you have mounted somewhere on your X ?
Sounds like a real cool tuning tool- I gotta have one.
