Thread: GTXDI Issues

A little history 1st, 320hrs on a 2000 GTXDI and it has been taken care of. We were riding at mudbug and were almost at Groh's marina and the ski just died. Hit the key, fuel pump pressurizes and it just clicks and hums. Pull the plugs and try again-no rotation. Tow it back to the ramp and put it back on trailer, send Her back to hotel and of course, ride back to Groh's on trusty RXT. Went to Wal mart later and buy/install new battery after top off charge. Try to start and it will not rotate, but is trying real hard with fresh battery. Pull plugs, try again, at 1st it doesn't want to turn, then it starts rotating quicker and quicker until it reachs normal cranking speed, no water, only fuel fogged, so hydrolock is out. Reinstall plugs, try to start again and it did, but sounds like a hammering sound inside engine and it's holding a idle- but LOUD. Shut it down quickly to not to do any more damage. Let one of the 2 stroke guys listen to it next day and He said it sounded like a connecting rod bearing let go. Took a cold compression check when I got home and got 90lbs/fr and 52/rear. What do you guys think happened? Any advise would be appreciated because it sounds like a bearing let loose. Thanks.

definitely needs top end at least (52 psi bad, 90 psi a little bad) Won't know what the bottom end is until you take it apart, so get wrenchin!

Could rave valves or air pump have any effect on comression #'s?

I could be wrong but it sounds like you may have done very good to get that many hours out of that engine. search the web and you may find that the di model has a bad a bad problem with it. I have read many post with skis that have very low hours and low compression good luck.

That's what I thought and call me crazy- but it sounds like the cylinder that's low on compression.
